It is not very often that a 5 tier cake comes around! Quite the statement. And this one has a lot of personality to go with it. This could have been done in a million different combinations. Infact, we changed the order a few times before this one finally set in. Stipes, dots, swirls, words; it all works. It seems that bright colors are everyones choice these days. It is so great. Weddings are becoming quite the parties. As they should be! One other thing I want to remember about this cake... The bottom layer had mint filling. I asked the bride if she wanted it white or green. Then I thought what about lime green (because that was one of her colors). What a fun idea! If you have buttercream frosting as the filling you could color it any color. The inside of the cake would be just as colorful as the outside!

Love the Flowers!
First, I must say that the flowers on this cake were stunning. This picture doesn't do them justice. They were such a beautiful color of red and then they were sprayed with this gold shimmer dust. Awesome! They made this cake come alive. I guess this is my plug for fresh flowers. There is something about them that just makes the cake. Secondly, black and white is such a classic combination. Goes with absolutly every color.

Best Friends Forever!
I asked this bride what I could put on this cake that was most important to her. 2 words, "Best Friends". They had known each other for a very very long time and this day, they made it official. Your cake can be an expression of you. I remember my cake being one of the things I loved most about my wedding (and my husband, of course)!

Mix it! Match it!
So, here is a great example of having every layer so different. Even the fondant colors are different. This one has chocolate brown on the middle layer. Fondant can be colored most any color. Who says that it has to always be white. Mix and match colors, textures and paterns. Endless options are out there!

Bringing the Beach Home!
This entire wedding was inspired by the beach. Choose what you love and run with it. Make it you own. This cake is so simple, yet it was perfect for this bride. Don't be scared of the sand! You can eat if it you want. Brown Sugar!

Birthday Evolutions!
I love that the birthday cake is evolving from the 9 x 13 pan to all sorts of fun things. There are lots of other birthday cake examples in some of my earlier posts. Check them out. I don't know if you can tell, but there are little pink, yellow and brown 3-d flowers on this one. Everyone always says that my daughter is going to have who-knows-what kind of out-of-control cake on her first birthday! I am getting nervous that I might let someone down! So, I better get planning now! I have got a few months!
