If you ask me what I think, I will tell you over and over, LESS IS MORE! I think that a cake becomes more formal when it is simple. I also love the way that the flowers turned out here. I tied 5 flowers together with the same ribbon that was around the cake and just layed the mini bouquet over the top. Perfect touch.

La Caille Bridal Show
It was a really fun day at the La Caille bridal show. I can't believe that it has come and gone already! I love that being in the wedding industry lets me be a part of some of the most special times in peoples lives. Anyways, this is a shot of how my booth turned out. La Caille is such a beautiful setting!
Love the Flowers!
I had a wonderful florist help me with the flowers for the La Caille Bridal show. Her name is Karlie and her company is called Garden House Floral. She did an amazing job. I have never seen a cake topper I like more than this one. Check her out at www.gardenhousefloral.com. You will be very pleased with her work! I promise!

Watch out Ribbon!
I had never thought of putting the detail over the ribbon before. I am really excited about how it turned out. I think it would go for any color combination too. In fact, I have a few other ideas already brewing on more ways to use this same idea. I am really excited.

Draper Temple Dedication
I had the most amazing experience this past weekend. I was able to help with the food for the dedication of the Draper LDS Temple. One of the things I got to do was make cakes for this special occasion. I made 4 of them for various locations throughout the temple. Here they are...

This cake went in the brides dressing room. This is where they had a buffet set up for the Temple Presidency. They were so excited about this cake and decided to have me box it up and they are going to save it for the one year aniversary of the dedication.

This is the cake that I made for President Monson, Prophet of the LDS Church. The next picture is the top of his cake. The lighting was not very good, so you can't really read it, but, it says "We Thank Thee, O God, For a Prophet." There was a reporter from the Deseret News there and she actually took pictures of my cakes. When President Monson came into his office and saw his cake, he asked her to take a picture. She said that she already had. And he said, no, I want one with me and the cake together! I thought that was so sweet!

Metalics aren't just for your shoes!
Where to start on this cake... I learned a lot! This one was a new one for me, but after mixing about 4 colors of paint and then applying 3 coats, we got it! Metallic are everywhere, including on cakes. It definitely made a statement. Also, notice the mixing of shapes. The second layer is what is called "petal" shaped. Mixes it up a bit. I have actually seen a 3 tier cake where every shape was different. It was really cool!

Turning one is so FUN!
It only happens once is a person's life! Turning one! There are so many things that you can do to add fun and flare to your babies party and a fun cake is one. Thanks to our dear friend for letting us be a small part of this special day!

Having another cake that your baby can crawl through is a great idea. Then you have something that is all their own and no body has to eat the cake they've demolished. McKenzie Hansen took this great photo, if you are looking for someone fabulous! She just did our fantastic family pictures!

Fondant Rules!
You can hardly tell, because it is very subtle, but this cake has a light purple fondant. Fondant can be colored pretty much any color. You could pick serveral colors even. Fondant is an awesome canvas for what ever you can think of. That is why I really like working with it and will alway recomend it!
